Western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis) Lure

Use the Western Flower Thrips Pheromone Lure with suitable blue or yellow sticky monitoring traps.

For best results, use with Optiroll Blue, Optiroll Super Blue, Impact Board Blue, HYTAK Board Blue, or compatible Optiroll systems. Blue traps are generally the most sensitive option for western flower thrips monitoring, while yellow traps may be useful where other pests such as whiteflies and aphids also need to be monitored.

Position traps just above the crop, for example with the base of the trap approximately 10cm above crop height, or place traps parallel with crop rows. Ensure traps are clearly visible in the crop and avoid contact between the sticky surface and the plant canopy.

Check traps regularly and use catch data to support early intervention and targeted pest management decisions.

For the most accurate results, replace western flower thrips aggregation pheromone lures every 6–8 weeks.

Pheromone lures are sensitive monitoring tools and should be handled carefully.

Wear gloves when handling lures to avoid contamination. Direct contact by hand can cause cross-contamination, which may affect trap catches. Some contaminants, such as nicotine, may reduce trap catch.

Avoid exposing lures to elevated heat or direct sunlight. Keep lures sealed until required.

Store sealed lures in a freezer at around -20°C for long-term storage, or in a fridge at around 4°C for up to 1 year. Do not store lures in a freezer or fridge used for food.

Keep out of reach of children and pets.
