Raspberry Beetle (Byturus tomentosus) Lure

Use the Raspberry Beetle Pheromone Lure with a suitable raspberry beetle monitoring trap, such as the Raspberry Beetle Trap or Ferolite water trap.

Insert the pheromone lure into the plastic cage provided with the trap. Position traps 15–30cm above ground level.

For Ferolite water traps, fill the base of the trap with water and add one pack of trap enhancer or approximately 10g of soap powder. Pheromones can be added to the cages below the light source.

Check traps weekly from the start of the overwintering generation flight. During periods of high beetle activity, more frequent checks may be required.

Replace the lure every 4–6 weeks, or sooner if required depending on field conditions and monitoring pressure.

Pheromone lures are sensitive monitoring tools and should be handled carefully.

Wear gloves when handling lures. Direct touching by hand may cause cross-contamination, which can lead to mixed catches in traps. Some contaminants, such as nicotine, may have a repellent effect and reduce trap catch.

Avoid exposing lures to elevated heat or direct sunlight. Keep lures sealed until required.

Sealed lures can be stored for long periods in a freezer at around -20°C, or in a fridge at around 4°C for up to 1 year. Do not store lures in a freezer or fridge where food is stored.

Keep out of reach of children and pets.
